Do I need to make a reservation, or can I just walk in?

Walk-ins are always welcome during our open hours. That said, weekend evenings and special events tend to fill up — if you're coming with 3+ painters on a Friday or Saturday night, we strongly recommend reserving a seat ahead of time. Reservations are free and take about a minute on the Reserve page.

How much does it cost to paint?

There's no per-person studio fee — you just pay for the piece you choose to paint. Pieces start at a few dollars (small ornaments) and go up from there for larger items like platters or vases. All paint, brushes, palettes, and use of the studio are included with any piece.

For exact pricing, contact us — we're happy to send a price list, or just walk in and browse.

How long does it take, and when can I pick up my piece?

Most painters spend 45 minutes to 2 hours painting, depending on the piece and how detailed you want to be. There's no time limit — stay as long as you like.

After you finish, we glaze and fire your piece in our kiln. It's ready for pickup in about 7 days. We'll text or email you when it's ready.

Is the finished pottery food-safe and dishwasher-safe?

Yes. Every piece we fire is finished with a food-safe, dishwasher-safe, and microwave-safe clear glaze. Your mug, bowl, or platter is ready for everyday use.

What ages can paint? Is it kid-friendly?

All ages are welcome. We see painters as young as two (with a grown-up helping) and as old as ninety. For kids under 5, we recommend choosing smaller, simpler pieces and planning for about 30–45 minutes of focused time.

Some of our paint nights are 21+ only — those are clearly labeled on the Events page.

Can I bring food or drinks?

Absolutely. We're a BYO studio — drinks, snacks, birthday cake, kids' juice boxes are all welcome. We just ask that you keep food and drinks a safe distance from the paint and pottery.

How do private studio rentals work?

You can rent the entire studio for birthdays, showers, bachelorettes, team builds, or just a private night with friends. Bring your own food and drinks, and we'll handle all the supplies and cleanup.

A $100 deposit is required to lock in your date. See the Studio Rental page to send an inquiry.

Do you do field trips and group bookings?

Yes — for schools, daycares, church groups, scout troops, homeschool co-ops, and summer camps. We can host you here or send a Pottery To-Go Box if your group is too large to travel. Head to the Field Trips page to plan a visit.

What if I mess up my piece?

You can't, honestly. Even "mistakes" turn into character. But if you really hate where it's going, we have tools and tricks to layer over or rework what you've painted before it's fired. Our staff is always nearby to help.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes! Gift cards are available in any amount, in person at the studio or by emailing us at info@busybrushstudio.com. They make great teacher gifts, bridal shower party favors, and last-minute holiday presents.

What's your cancellation policy for reservations?

Plans change — we get it. Please give us at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. No-shows for parties of 6 or more may be asked to put a small deposit on the next booking.

Just call (205) 734-0099 or email info@busybrushstudio.com if you can't make it.

Pick a piece. Pick a brush. Make it yours.
